Why would you make the time for a body-mind-spirit detoxification?

We live in a fast moving society where most people devote little or no time to mind-body cleansing. Indeed, the converse is the case. The mind is being bombarded with a plethora of information and activities - iphones, games, TV, advertising, Facebook, Twitter...

It is therefore not surprising that the mind loves to chatter incessantly. Thoughts come uninvited and often these thoughts are negative and toxic - critical, self-deprecating, full of fear and anxiety, anger, distrust, pride, jealousies, ruminations on past events and real or perceived injustices and more. These thoughts are often tension and stress inducing. This negative programming comes at you from all directions. Just listen to the news for 5 minutes and you'll see what I mean. Yet, we tend to accept them as normal and battle on.

It is important to take time out for mental quietude and to relax and recharge completely. This is essential for a long life and personal and professional effectiveness. During this time you do nothing that requires mental effort. Exercise, play with your children, go for a walk, do things around the house, attend our half-day yoga retreat, etc.

Indeed, research in this area shows that you will be far more productive if you work five to six days and take one or two days off completely than if you work through for seven days.

The Body's Natural Detoxification System

Your body has a natural detoxification system that is governed by the liver, skin, lungs, kidneys and the colon, which work together to eliminate toxins.

However, these organs/systems can become sluggish and overloaded. Why? You increasingly take in toxins from your environment by breathing them, by ingesting them, or through physical contact with them. You eat and drink them through diets rich in fats, sugars and highly processed foods. Most drugs, food additives, and allergens can create toxic elements in the body.

When your body is full of toxins, it will start to display signs such as a tired and aching body, constipation, skin problems, bad breath, indigestion, a bloated belly, immune weakness, frequent colds, environmental sensitivities, fatigued mind and low energy level.

Why would you want to experience a half-day retreat? Longer retreats and workshops allow you to take your yoga further and explore aspects of this ancient practice that cannot be covered in 60 or 75-minute weekly classes.

And, if Battersea Park is not close to home and you are thinking that it may be a hassle to get there, there is very good public transport to Battersea. By rail, Battersea Park station is one stop from Victoria and Clapham Junction stations. Sloane Square tube station is a short distance away and four buses stop right outside. Parking is available inside the park for about £4.00.

Retreat/workshop fees are payable in full and in advance. 100% refund-on-cancellation up to 14 days before the retreat. After this period fees are non-refundable and non-transferable unless there is a waiting list for the event and we can transfer your booking to another applicant.Please be absolutely sure that you can make the date before confirming your booking.
