  KABAK VALLEY

KABAK
- is a paradise in which people have been living in harmony with nature since the creation of the world

God created this place by looking at it from the sea, he took his palette brush in hand and first created the steep rocks which are going in and out, like monuments, from the feet of Babada? which is at the back, he let water fall as fountainheads, he painted the plateau which goes down to the sea step by step in green, he raised pine tress over the red steep rocks. He plaeced the SANDALWOOD tree with red husks,LAUREL with bright leaves, VALONIA and all MEDITERNANEAN plant cover side by side and one inside the other. He said, 'KABAK will be such a beatiful place that all of my subjects will learn what nature and natural life mean as long as the universe exists.'

And GOD looked at its work of art and can not prevent the tears of delight from failing.Just at that time the picture came to life and water started to splash from the rocks,SHORT-TOED EAGLE started to glide along swiftly in the air,the GOAT started to eat thethyme on the rocks, the MEDITERNANEAN SEAL started to hunt at the coast.CARETTA CARETTAS came to the sandy beach of golden colour to lay eggs,RED FOX began to chase the ROCK PARTRIDGES and RABBITS.JESSEY TIGER deciced to settle its home in the promises. This is how KABAK was created; and this story continued thus. People learned how to take out the oil of the nettle tree berry and bay and how to raise onion and garlic by digging up by the roots. B.C. 3000... Years followed years and people caught goats and sacrificed them as well as taming them. They mixed the manure in ground and raised barley and wheat. They built up a mill on fountainhead of the waterfall that is within the depths of the canyon. They brought down the wild olive trees which they uprooted from the hills to the gardens of their houses made of stone. They planted them together with the pomegranate tree which is known as the tree of heaven. Year B.C. 2000... People of Kabak burried their dead together with their belongings that they loved best under monument graves (one piece of stone block) consisting of one piece. They opened a window over the grave so that Harpyas of the mythology, creatures with a woman head and bird body, could enter the grave and take the spirit of the dead and take them to the world of dead, Hades. In those days native inhabitants in Kabak were called Lykians. Year A.D. 100... The good news of Jesus Christ reached the small bays GAVUR ALI, SANCAKLI, INSUYU BALARTLI and KABAK, from PATARA. Churches were built on the hills and lace like coasts . Even the small bays which have no water received their share of trade. People of Kabak took the water of the mill that reaches the sea, through a second mill into ships. They filled the barrels with olive oil and made wine from the grapes that tasted like honey. A.D. 1300... Byzantium Period started and it was about to end. Althogh Kabak could not carry out sea trade as it used to do in the past, it was self-sufficient unlike the other small bays. And they heard abaut our last prophet; after that, there appears a Muslim graveyard on the most beautiful area of Kabak where stream and sea unite and where the most beautiful pine trees grow and golden sands come to an end. Year A.D. 1998 Nothing much changed within 5000 years in Kabak. Villagers make a living out of apiculture; they raise enough amount of wheat and barley, they produce molasses instead of wine from the grapes that taste like honey. They are squeezing their excellent olive oils just like their ancestors. Did They are still raising the goats which were tamed thousands of years ago, at mountains. We are also taking our water from the natural spring, performing our transportation using mules on land and using ships at sea. We cook our meal by burning firewood and we do our fishing, everyday we cook our bread using the flour we ourselves produce by grinding the wheat that is raised at the plateau of Kabak, and in the mornings we eat it together with honey and olive oil produced at Kabak as well. While having a holiday at Kabak you will meet the life itself. It is possible to do various natural sports at KABAK CAMPING. Trekking at Kabak is one of sports branches that you can practice, and each day you can use a different course. At the end of each trekking course cultural heritage of Kabak is waiting for you. You can perform “parachute jump from slope” each day at BABA DAGI which is one of the best jump points of the world. Mountain climbing is a sports which has not been discovered here yet, at the canyon the nature is very much convenient for rock climbing. KABAK is a way of life, KABAK is an exemplary landscape, KABAK is the natural life. We do not offer you a Holiday Village with 5 stars, rather we offer you a sky with thousands of stars.
